How much does Workopoly cost a homeowner?

Creating an agreement carries a one-off setup fee: £5 flat for jobs under £500, or 3% of the job value, capped at £100, for jobs of £500 or more. There is no charge to browse the marketplace or message contractors beforehand.

How much does Workopoly cost a contractor?

The core platform is free to use; quoting, messaging, and agreements carry no charge for contractors. The optional Contractor Plan costs £15 per month and adds AI-assisted writing, visible verified badges, and instant Companies House checks.

Does Workopoly process the payment for my job?

No. You pay one another however you have agreed, whether by bank transfer, cash, or any other method that suits you both. Workopoly simply maintains a shared payment schedule that both sides confirm, providing a clear, timestamped record of what has been paid and when.

Is Workopoly a party to the agreement between me and the other side?

No. We are a connector, not a mediator. The agreement is between you and the homeowner or contractor you are working with. Workopoly provides the tools to make that agreement clear and well documented, but is not itself a party to it.

Can I use Workopoly with a contractor I already know?

Yes. You may invite a specific contractor by email directly, rather than posting to the open marketplace, which is useful if you already have someone in mind.

What happens once a job has been agreed?

Both parties sign the agreement, set up a payment schedule with milestones, and may attach photographic and video evidence of the work as it progresses. Once the job is marked complete, both sides may leave a review.

What is the difference between the PRO badge and the Verified badge?

The PRO badge (blue) indicates an active Contractor Plan subscription. The Verified badge (gold) indicates that the contractor's business registration number has been matched against the public Companies House register. The two are independent; a contractor may hold one, both, or neither.

When does Companies House verification take place?

Automatically, the first time a homeowner pays a setup fee for an agreement with that contractor. Contractor Plan subscribers may also trigger an instant check themselves at any time. The check is repeated periodically thereafter, so that a badge is revoked should a company later be dissolved.

How do reviews work?

Homeowners review the contractor's work publicly, and this is visible on that contractor's profile to anyone. Contractors may also privately rate the homeowner, on communication, payment reliability, and friendliness, though this is never made public. It is visible only to other contractors holding an active Contractor Plan subscription, who are deciding whether to accept a job from that homeowner. A homeowner may view their own private reviews and respond to them.

Is my payment information secure?

We never see or store your full card number. Payments for Workopoly's own fees, such as the setup fee and the Contractor Plan subscription, are handled entirely by Stripe.

Can I obtain a copy of my data, or delete my account?

Yes, both may be done without needing to contact us. Under Settings, you will find “Download my data” and, separately, the option to delete your account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Will I receive marketing emails?

Only if you have explicitly opted in. You may unsubscribe at any time, and doing so has no effect on the account or job-related notifications you need to use the platform.
