Terms of Service — Homeowners

These terms govern your use of Workopoly as a homeowner. Workopoly is operated by Archema Labs Ltd, trading as Workopoly, company number SC879076, registered office in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.

Workopoly is a connector, not a mediator. We provide tools for you to find a contractor, or work with one you already know, and to document your agreement, payment schedule, and the work itself in one shared place.

We are not a party to the agreement between you and your contractor. That agreement is a separate contract between you and them. We do not employ contractors, supervise their work, or guarantee its quality, timing, or safety. We make no warranty or representation about any contractor's workmanship, materials, or conduct.

You must be at least 18 years old and resident in the United Kingdom to use Workopoly as a homeowner. By creating an account, you confirm that this is accurate.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account. Please tell us immediately at help@workopoly.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

You may post a job to our marketplace to receive quotes, or invite a specific contractor you already know directly by email. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you post, including the description of the work and your budget.

You remain free to accept or decline any quote you receive, and to choose not to proceed with any contractor at any stage before an agreement is signed.

Creating a signed agreement carries a one-off setup fee: £5 for jobs under £500 in value, or 3% of the job value, capped at £100, for jobs of £500 or more. This fee is paid to Workopoly through Stripe, our payment processor, and is separate from whatever you pay your contractor for the work itself.

Workopoly does not process payment for the work itself. You and your contractor pay one another directly, by whatever method you agree. We provide a shared payment schedule that both sides may confirm, but we are not responsible for either party actually making or receiving that payment.

Payment of the setup fee is processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Stripe's own terms apply to the processing of your payment, and we are not responsible for any decline, delay, or error caused by Stripe itself.

You have the right to cancel and receive a full refund of the setup fee within 14 days of paying it, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, provided the agreement has not yet been signed by both parties. When you sign the agreement, you will be asked to confirm that you understand that signing waives this 14-day right, and that you expressly request the service to be completed immediately. This confirmation is a separate checkbox in the signing flow itself, distinct from your signature. Once both parties have signed on this basis, the service has been fully performed at your request, and this cancellation right no longer applies.

After a job is marked complete, you may leave a review of the contractor's work. This is shown publicly on their profile. A contractor may also leave a private review of you as a homeowner, covering communication, payment reliability, and friendliness. This is never shown publicly and is visible only to other contractors with an active Contractor Plan subscription, when they are deciding whether to accept a job from you.

Reviews must reflect a genuine, completed job on the platform. We may remove a review, or decline to publish one, that we reasonably believe is fraudulent, retaliatory, or unrelated to the actual work.

You agree not to:

• Provide false information about yourself, a job, or a payment
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against a contractor or any other user
• Post a fraudulent or retaliatory review
• Use Workopoly to make initial contact with a contractor and then deliberately move the relationship off-platform specifically to avoid the setup fee
• Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorisation

Workopoly and its branding, design, and software remain our property. Photographs and content you upload remain yours, but you grant us a licence to store, display, and use them as needed to operate the platform, including showing job photos to your contractor and, for a review you leave, on the contractor's public profile.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under UK law.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you arising out of your use of Workopoly is limited to the lower of £500 or the total fees you have paid to us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss, cost, or damage arising from the work carried out by a contractor, which is a matter between you and them.

You may close your account at any time through Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, provided false information, acted fraudulently, or behaved in a way that puts another user at risk.

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts. If you are a consumer resident in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, nothing in this clause affects any right you may have under consumer protection law to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

We may update these terms from time to time. Where a change is significant, we will tell you directly before it takes effect.
